Fra Zambia kommer Victor Lwazo og Ndopu Ndopu. De er begge sykepleiere og skal være i Norge i 14 mnd. Fra Nordkapp reiser Siv-Hege Madsø, ergoterapeut, og Inger Gretland, fysioterapeut. De reiser ut rett over nyttår og skal være i Zambia i 13 mnd.
Victor Lwazo and Ndopu Ndopu are nurses coming from Zambia. They will be staying in Norway for 14 months. Siv-Hege Madsø, occupational therapist, and Inger Gretland, physiotherapist, will be going to Zambia in January and stay there for 13 months.

Ndopu Ndopu (35) og Victor Lwazu (32) har nå vært 3 uker her og trives til tross for klimaet.
De skal begge være her i 13 mnd, og ser fram til å bli kjent med oss her i Nordkapp kommune.

28th of November is the day i first stepped in Nordkapp kommune after having stayed in Oslo specifically at Hadeland hotel for three weeks preparing our selves on what to expect in Norway during the days we will be staying here. To stay in Norway is not hard if one is open ,meaning being able to talk to people even when they seem to be people who are occupied most of the time you meet them in the corridors .Some people complain about the weather ,but I think its something one has no option on but to accept it because no one can change it other than find ways to keep one self warm .But when one needs to feel at home ,he needs to have friends or people to talk to.
Its not to strangers only where you will find these people to be like this ,but to fellow Norwegians and this makes me to think that they don’t want to bother or be bothered unnecessary though you will be surprised by how they come out as one when there is a community programme .Sometimes I do think that they don’t want to compromise there culture and tradition ,that is why they are one in all community programmes .When I talk about tradition or culture it is actually small things that make them happy as a family ,talking about culture I believe there is no culture or tradition that is as bad as poison as long ad those who value it find joy and unity when practising hence it is important to partcipat so that one can have a clear understanding of why its practised .
From the time I came to Nordkapp I have made more friends and I feel at home .I think when you are invited for a meal or a community programme it is best to go because they will feel that you respect them and you are ready to make friends .That my friend you will not be bored while you are staying in Norway especially when you do not only go and be to your self but you are able to mingle with them take part in what they are doing .They like talking about the fish ,weather and the traditional foods in Norway especially during festivals ,summer is one thing they do not forget talking about .From the time I have been in Norway be it in Oslo or Nordkapp kommune I have found these people be peaceful and gentle ,always minding there on business .
I will be staying in Norway for about 13 months and I will be based in Honningsvåg working at the health facility in rehabilitation for people with different kinds of problems, basicaly I am here to learn the way rehabilitation for people with disabilities is done here and shear how we do it in Zambia ,I will also shear the culture and values of my country and learn the culture of Norway .I am not alone here in Norway there is a friend of mine whom I stay with and work with ,he comes from Zambia a nurse like me and programme is under Fredkorpset which is an exchange programme meaning there are two ladys from Norway who will be going to Zambia and stay the same number of months as well .I believe that my stay in Norway will be loving which is my wish for our friends ho will be going to Zambia.
I am Ndopu, a male aged 35 years. I came to Norway on an exchange basis between Nordkapp Kommune and Kazungula and Livingstone, Zambia in the Southern part of Africa.This project focuses mainly on community based Rehabilitation in culture,traditions and health. My colleage Victor representing Kazungula and I representing Livingstone district,arrived in Norway on the 09/11/08 and attended a preparatory course organised by Fredskopset for three weeks in Gran.This course was to prepare us in order to adjust and fit in a new community, so that we are able to overcome the unforeseen challenges. We arrived in Nordkapp kommune, Honningsvåg, on Friday28/11/08.This is the farthest part of North Norway. For a visitor like me upon feeling the test of harsh cold weather, seeing the mountained areas, snow, darkness, one might think it's impossible for human inhabitant, but however this will be my home for the next 13 months. It was just few days of adjustment and I have really come to enjoy my stay in this totally new environment. I am really looking forward to continue enjoying my stay and learn new ideas in the aspect of rehabilitation and in technology.
Jeg heter Inger Gretland (http://fk-world.no/en/Profiles/7412/7415/7438/), er 33 år gammel og kommer fra Fredrikstad. Jeg jobber til vanlig som barnefysioterapeut i Sarpsborg kommune, men har nå fått muligheten til å delta i Nordkapp kommunes fredskorpsprosjekt og skal reise til Zambia. Utdannelsen min tok jeg i Oslo og var ferdig i 1998. Siden har jeg fullført videreutdanning i barnefysioterapi. På fritiden driver jeg mest med musikk: Jeg jobber som kordirigent og spiller fagott i symfoniorkester.
Jeg gleder meg veldig til å reise, og ser fram til å representere Nordkapp kommune. Vi har blitt tatt veldig godt i mot, og for en søring er det ekstra eksotisk å få være her i mørketida. Etter nyttår er det avreise til Zambia, og det ser jeg veldig fram til. Det blir spennende og utfordrende å bo og jobbe i en ny kultur.
My name is Inger Gretland. I’m 33 years old from Fredrikstad. I work in Sarpsborg municipality as a physiotherapist for children, but now I have been given the opportunity to participate in Nordkapp municipalities Fredskorps project, and I will be going to Zambia. I was educated in Oslo and finished my degree in 1998. Since then I have specialized in physiotherapy for children. In my spare time I mostly do music; I work as a choir conductor and I play the bassoon in an orchestra.
I’m very much looking forward to go to Zambia and to represent Nordkapp. It already feels like a second home, and for someone from the south of Norway it is exotic to experience the darkness of winter here. When new year comes we will be leaving for Zambia, and it will be exciting and challenging to live and work in a new country
Jeg heter Siv-Hege Madsø (http://www.fk-world.no/en/Profiles/7412/7415/7430/), er 25 år gammel og kommer fra Trondheim. Til daglig jobber jeg som ergoterapeut ved en videregående skole i samme by, og tok også utdanningen min der. Nå er jeg ansatt i nydelige Nordkapp kommune, og skal reise til eksotiske Zambia for å jobbe i 13 måneder. Der nede skal jeg jobbe som ergoterapeut med Community Based Rehabilitation, både i byen Livingstone og i mer landlige Kazungula District.
Det å få jobbe som ergoterapeut i et helt annet land, i en helt annen kultur og i et fullstendig annerledes klima – det er noe jeg ser svært frem til! Forventningene til prosjektet er vanskelig å beskrive, men jeg tror jeg vil møte mange tøffe utfordringer og livsglade mennesker.
My name is Siv-Hege Madsø, I´m 25 years old and I live in Trondheim. On daily basis I work as an occupational therapist (OT) in a high school in the same city. I also graduated as an OT in Trondheim. Right now I’m hired in the beautiful municipality of Nordkapp in northern Norway, and I’m travelling to the exotic country of Africa; Zambia. In Zambia I will work as an OT in Community Based Rehabilitation, both in the city of Livingstone and the rural area of Kazungula District.
The fact that I will work as an OT in a complete different country, in a completely different culture and climate, that is something I very much look forward to do! My expectations towards the project I find hard to explain, but I imagine that I will meet both challenging situations and wonderful people.
